Our Story

Causey's Barber shop was the dream and reality of one incredible Mount Pleasant man - Danny Causey. Born and raised in Moncks Corner, SC, Danny always had sights on making it his own way. He began plumbing as a teenager, but quickly realized that profession was not for him. After a visit to a local barber shop, where he had a nice conversation about local sports, Danny finally had the lightbulb moment he had been waiting for - he would open a sports-themed Lowcountry barber shop, and that he did.

Humble Beginnings

Danny opened Causey's Barber Shop on September 1, 1965, when Mt. Pleasant had a population of just 5,500. The local business was a quick hit, and soon became Mt. Pleasant's go-to barber shop, and has remained just that thanks to Danny and his family's hard work and dedication to creating the most unique and desirable haircut location in Charleston. Pictured is the Sea Island Shopping center, home to Causey's, in 1950 -15 years before Causey's opened its doors. The Piggly Wiggly (now Harris Teeter) has always been the anchor for the shopping center.

On Down the Family Line

Fast forward over 55 years and Causey's is still family-owned and operated, now by Danny's son, Donnie Causey, and his wife, Leslie. From our famous free ice cream for the kids to the immense sports memorabilia collection, Causey's has created a signature charm that has kept the Lowcountry coming back for haircut after haircut, serving families for more than a half-century. Help keep Causey's family-owned and operated by stopping by for a cut today!
